There are really no alternatives, in a certain price range, to get from point A to point B in that much style and comfort!
Noblesse… you know.
It’s not really an eye-catching work of art, nor does it follow the classic house style. It’s a bit stocky, has a strange looking nose and the rear refers a bit to brands that are very far from Mercedes.
I'll have to learn to love it. But maybe those are the most lasting relationships? And a crush might quickly pass in the everyday grind?
Wow, back to the automobile.
Are there any other downsides?
Here too the closing of the central locking is very present. This mainly has to do with the look & feel of the driver's compartment, where a hard clack clack is disturbing.
The screen is reasonably horizontal and at certain moments this did not improve the readability. Which in turn has to do with the glass roof.
The trunk is limited in volume and the floor is not completely flat. That will have its practical reasons, but it is in any case not a plus. The space below the floor is also minimal. And up front, in the nose, there's also no storage space, which just about all other EVs offer and is actually a pitiful choice.
And here too you can speak of comfortable seating for four adults. The rear seats are nicely worked out for the outer seats, but in the middle you only have an uncomfortable, modest seat.
No oversized center tunnel here, the platform is designed for electric driving, but there is a mini hump. As if to separate the outer places. Strange…
Last critique, which isn't really a criticism and is probably entirely due to my limited perception: a lot happens on the central screen when you're driving on navigation. Apparently this is the case on all recent models of the brand with the star?
It's nice. Really. But I don't need to see real-time on the screen what I also see through the windshield, supplemented with arrows in the middle of the track to indicate the right place to turn. On the central screen, so away from your field of view on the road. Nice for the passenger, but as a driver you benefit more from the simple, classic display on the dashboard in front of you.
Is there anything positive to report?
Definitely!
It's an E class. In itself a reference for comfortable driving. A bit luxurious even, if you will. And because it is an electric car with immediately available and stepless building capacity and a silent operation of the technology, it feels even more zen…
Ok, the sound of the tires is then a bit more present and the EQS will distinguish itself there by better insulation, but there is little to negotiate for price-quality on this cart.
Many colors throughout the interior, according to the mood of the moment, different settings of the, of course, digital dashboard, as many driving modes as with the competitors while everyone will drive on “Comfort” with medium or strong regeneration, all music sources and the necessary information regarding range and consumption. I can't immediately list anything that's missing.
The seats are perfectly adjustable, the steering wheel too, there are many storage options inside, the glass roof (fixed and optional) with sun blinds is an added value for the atmosphere in the car, the lane assist and cruise control work the way I like it and the range is realistic!
So, there you go: all the pluses in two sentences!
But actually the great strength of this car is the general feeling of well-being!
I know, it'll sound corny, but you'd almost feel happy just sitting in the car and quietly driving away. Just like that, going nowhere. And to realize that it is not the most beautiful Mercedes ever, but you do have the feeling of driving a limousine.
And a sports car, if you really have to. At the red lights, for example. Next to a petrol-guzzling pseudo sports car that you see disappear in your rear-view mirror a little later…
But that's not what this car is about.
This one doesn't try to shout the loudest.
It whispers, you listen. Class!
