It's true…
I've looked from the front and the back, along the two sides and at the four corners. Up from flat on my stomach and down from a stepladder. Even inside, front and rear.
It is probably the most beautiful…
But let's start with the downsides!
The sound of the indicators reminds me of the Simca my father used to have. Agreed, it’s probably not that bad, but it clashes enormously with the beautiful cockpit and the high-end atmosphere.
Artificial noise when accelerating... Not necessary!
It's a hallmark of class to leave everyone behind… without clamouring. Thank God, it can be turned off.
Apparently regenerating was not a priority either. Even in "Efficient", with the regeneration in manual, I couldn't get the car to slow down by playing with the paddles. It is of course the case that I am not the brightest light and may have done something wrong or not at all. Yet. It can never really be efficient when it's so well hidden. If it is already there.
The price? Well, you are buying a fantastic machine for that money and perhaps it will not be such a problem for the potential buyer. The car is, in my humble opinion, well worth it.
What I do think is that the concept falls a bit between two chairs. On the one hand, he wants to be comfortable and that works quite well, but he is of course fairly stiffly sprung, not very spacious and the central armrest does not seem the most comfortable for long journeys to me. It is sporty in “Dynamic”, but the real kick as we felt in the M50 is not there.
And the centre tunnel at the back is also limping in two minds, because the e-tron GT simply has an electric motor on both axles, so this could have been avoided. At that price…
The pros?
That he is the most beautiful! This has a lot to do with its undeniable kinship with its Porsche cousins.
There are worse references.
The roofline is typical and, for example, from both rear corners the resemblance is striking.
It also has a really nice, sleek dashboard! Finished to perfection. No big screens, but all info neatly available and enough "real" buttons to operate easily.
Lots of adjustments too, as befits a car in that price range, from the lumbar support for the driver to the hardness of the shock absorbers. Classy!
The “Dynamic” mode is also fun. A bit more direct, more enthusiastic, tighter and above all more lively. A pleasure to spend a few hours on the right roads with. Every week…
For the experienced and/or critical EV driver: it seems to me that the specified range is quite correct and, in normal driving, is also almost achieved. Even without noticeable regeneration.
For those new to electric driving, don't be blinded by those 487 kilometres unless you always drive on flat, preferably slightly downhill roads, without air conditioning or heating and at an average of 78 km per hour. This is a very correct range for daily traffic and the fast charging capacity also makes it an ideal travel car.
And… the car can be delivered before your next holiday! Something not every brand can say. Delivery time of not even six months, as for this one, is unusual. Currently…
Did I mention the lane assist? He’s there and does his thing.
That is to say, if you threaten to cross a line, he corrects. I know another system quite well that just keeps the car in the middle of the lane. That's more my kind of thing. I just have to let it know I'm there by keeping my hand on the steering wheel. Here you have to steer and he will tell you if you’re not doing it right. Agreed, I've always had issues with authority (yes, my navigation is silent…), but I prefer the other system. Still, it's great that it's there and avoiding accidents! Don’t get me wrong.
Conclusion:
If you like to live anonymously and prefer not to be approached by complete strangers… there are better options.
If you're looking for a flashy car, like to balance sportiness and comfort and want to exude class… this is your thing!
